The Little Angels Foundation is an advocacy group campaigning against child murderers, child abusers including those who commit child neglect, paedophiles and sex offenders. The Foundation was established as a result of the Queensland Government placing a repeat child sex abuser in our neighbourhood against our wishes and at the jeopardy of our children and those our neighbours.
The Foundations aims are to
- better protect children against child murderers, paedophiles and child sex abusers;
- better protect children against child neglect;
- better protect victims of sex offenders.
We hope to achieve these aims by:
- campaigning for an Australian version of Megan's Law (USA);
- campaigning for an Australian version of Jessica's Law (USA);
- campaigning for an Australian wide 'Amber Alert' (USA);
- changing legislation to make it compulsory for paedophiles and sex offenders to receive rehabilitation and treatment prior to them being allowed to be released from prison;
- creating legislation that prohibits the release of paedophiles and sex offenders from prison if they refuse rehabilitation and treatment;
- creating/amending legislation hereby child murderers are given a mandatory life sentence with no chance of parole;
- advocating for a two strike policy whereby repeat offenders are given a mandatory life sentence with no chance of parole;
- amending the Bail Act (Qld) and equivalent State Acts to prohibit the release from custody of repeat offenders until the conclusion of their Court matters;
- addressing the issue of paedophiles and sex offenders living 'in our backyard'.
Other aims of the Federation are:
- to provide a training package for parents on ways to protect their children;
- to develop resources for children on ways to protect themselves and what to do if they become a victim;
- presenting the resources at schools and daycares or providing resources to schools and daycares to allow them to teach children on protection and safety issues;
- increasing public awareness.
